I’m certain you’ll be able to say the same. I use these shortcuts all the time, and once I memorized them, I noticed a significant speed increase in my workflow. You can use them to quickly trim shape layers, solids, adjustment layers-every type of layer. The nice thing about these shortcuts is that they don’t just apply to video layers. Both of these shortcuts will trim the clip to wherever your playhead is positioned. add Size, Position & Rotate to change the size. add Crop: Rectangle and set its Padding color transparent, adjust to the highlight area. with the copied clip selected, trim to just the time where you want to zoom in. Then use the shortcut Alt + on PC or Option + ] on Mac. Shotcut is a free, open source, cross-platform video editor for Windows, Mac and Linux. One way is to: copy the clip to a video track above. Here’s quickest way to cut a clip in After Effects (and my preferred method)-simply use shortcuts along with the playhead.įirst, position the playhead at the exact frame you want to cut. This will make your layer snap to the playhead’s position, taking out the tedious work of trying to line it up frame by frame. If you want to trim the clip to the position of your playhead, just hold down shift while you’re dragging the ends of the clip. Then, grab one end of your layer and trim the clip to the exact frame you want it. Here’s another way to make your cut: Duplicate your layer- Ctrl + D on PC or Command + D on Mac. This is how After Effects cuts clips, since you can’t cut a clip in the middle of the same layer.įaster Ways to Cut a Clip in After Effects Create duplicate layers. Your clip will still play all the way through, uninterrupted, but with independent layers. Click it.Īfter you’ve clicked, you’ll see that your layer is now duplicated and cut into two separate layers. Then, go up to the edit tab, and find Split Layer ( Ctrl+Shift+D). Just highlight your layer, and position your timeline indicator where you want your cut. Once you have your composition set up and one layer loaded into your timeline, it’s super-easy to cut a clip. How Does After Effects Cut Clips? Go to Edit, then hit Split Layer. While I wouldn’t recommend editing an entire film inside of After Effects, you can quickly streamline your workflow by knowing how to cut a clip. This creates an extra step when cutting clips, unless you use shortcuts as a workaround. After all, After Effects doesn’t have a traditional “cut” tool (like you’d see in Premiere Pro) for splitting layers. Trying to cut a clip in After Effects for the first time can feel a bit odd. It’s a quick, easy way to add a new skill and streamline your workflow. Learn how to cut a clip in After Effects. The group’s initial attempts generated noisy, unstable player movements, making it difficult to simulate life-like behaviors. Given the complexity of components involved in their system, training the simulated player models from real footage of tennis games proved to be a challenging task. The system leverages a hierarchical control model that combines a low-level imitation policy and high-level motion planning policy to guide character motions learned from broadcast videos. The animation system developed by Peng’s team allows for character movements to be procedurally generated by learning from footage of real athletes playing in sports games. While popular sports video games typically use motion capture technologies to produce high-quality animations, their results are limited to the behaviors captured during specific recording sessions, limiting the diversity of movements a character can perform.Īccording to new developments involving Peng and researchers from Stanford University, the University of Toronto, Vector Institute and NVIDIA, it may soon become possible for video game designers to have their characters learn to move by mimicking footage of real-life athletes, and automatically simulate new variations and responsive behaviors on the fly. It’s supported on any NVIDIA GeForce RTX, TITAN RTX or Quadro RTX GPU, using their dedicated Tensor Core AI processors to help the app’s AI networks run in real-time, right alongside your games. When provided with a large dataset of video clips from professional tennis players, the system learns to perform complex tennis shots and realistically chains together multiple shots into extended two-player rallies, generating long-lasting matches with realistic racket and ball dynamics between two physically simulated characters. NVIDIA Broadcast is a universal plugin that works with most popular live streaming, voice chat and video conferencing apps. In many instances, OBS is better than Nvidia Shadowplay, becouse it offers so much flexibility of options, but the options for Nvidia GPUs are limited. Peng’s team will present its system and corresponding research paper at the 50 th SIGGRAPH conference, the premier global conference for computer graphics and interactive techniques, in Los Angeles, California, from August 6-10. SFU computing science assistant professor Jason Peng is leading a research team that is raising motion simulation technology to the next level-and using the game of tennis to showcase just how real virtual athletes’ moves can be.Īlongside his colleagues, Peng has created a machine learning system capable of learning diverse, simulated tennis skills from broadcast video footage. The enemies and the sounds they make really put you on edge, combined with the scarcity of items (maybe not as much towards the end), and lighting. But the story is not the main thing about this game, but it's atmosphere. It manages to bridge a great mix of a well written survival story, mixed with some high level action that brings up the urgency and pace of the story. Now, I finished my first RE game, being RE 2 Remake, and it is one my favorite games of all time. Recently I got into the Resident Evil franchise, and I bought a couple of those games since they were on sale. What's currently available is not the end of Resident Evil 2-the free new Ghost Survivors DLC launches in February. Though Resident Evil 2 has its roots firmly in the past, it reworks the familiar horrors into something that feels brand new and all its own." But above all, the remake is an impressive game for the fact that it goes all-in on the pure survival horror experience, confidently embracing its horrifying tone and rarely letting up until the story's conclusion. "Resident Evil 2 is not only a stellar remake of the original, but it's also simply a strong horror game that delivers anxiety-inducing and grotesque situations, topping some of the series' finest entries. If you want to learn more about the game, go ahead and check out my review in which I state: Seeing how much the original game's plot and structure had evolved with the remake was a pleasure to see play out, despite how nerve-wracking it could get. I greatly enjoyed my time with Resident Evil 2. So if you want to jump straight into the other second scenario, without having to play the other scenario that precedes it, then you can do that. In another big change from the first game, completing the first two campaigns will open up all 4 campaigns. With the original game, there were key moments where you could decide which character should take certain items over the other-that has since been removed in this game. While both characters will experience similar events and explore the same locations, the choices and impact of each scenario are totally isolated from one another. In order to get the elusive S rank, you'll need to finish a particular character's story in less than 4 hours. While many events and puzzles are similar to the original game, allowing you to get a better handle on what to do, the overall structure and pace is quite different. Keep in mind, this was the initial attempt and the ensuing runs after that were shorter due to having familiarity with the game. In my review, I mentioned that it took me about 15 hours to complete both of Leon and Claire's first stories-which each character's scenarios running at 6-7 hours each. Their different stories are further enhanced by the game's differing scenarios, which swaps their roles in the overall story and results in a total of 4 unique campaigns between the two protagonists (Leon A/B and Claire A/B). Much like the original version, you play as either Leon Kennedy or Claire Redfield and experience their unique perspectives on the viral outbreak that's hit Raccoon City. Resident Evil 2's much-anticipated remake is now available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Drive was transmitted directly by the crankshaft to a rear-mounted differential using a chain. The engine had two double-acting cylinders, side-by-side and equipped with slide-valves, and it was a simple-expansion type. There is not a single documented incident of a Stanley boiler exploding. The resulting leakage would relieve the boiler pressure and douse the burner with very little risk to the passenger. Even if these failed, any dangerous over pressure would rupture one of the joints long before the boiler shell itself could burst. The boilers were reasonably safe since they were fitted with safety valves. In later models, the installation of a condenser caused oil-fouling in the expansion joints, and welded steel fire-tubes had to be used. In early models, the vertical fire-tubes were made of copper, and were expanded into holes in the upper and lower crown sheets. The boiler was reinforced by several layers of piano wire wound around it, which gave it a strong but relatively light-weight shell. Steam was generated in a vertical fire-tube boiler, mounted beneath the seat, with a vaporizing gasoline (later, kerosene) burner underneath. Below are ways to prevent your phone from overheating in the first place even if you play games while plugged into power. Overheating not only damages your phone but also ruins your gaming experience. Hitting such temperatures and beyond can damage your battery and other phone components in a matter of months. Normal phone temperatures while gaming should not exceed 80 0C/176F 0 but phones can reach temperatures of up to 82 0C/180 0F. Overheating then becomes a problem considering how heavy these games are. As a result, modern games like PUBG Mobile, Fortnite, Genshin Impact, and Call of Duty Mobile demand a lot of your phone’s resources. Mobile games are getting better by the day, especially in terms of graphics. Colleagues at Guardian Removals, an Edinburgh-based moving and storage company, found the catchy tunes less distracting than songs with words and warmed up to the idea of game breaks. To get his office mates on board with video game breaks, Sam Williamson, 27, started by playing soundtracks of old school console games such as Super Mario to see the reaction at the office. Outside of start-ups, though, many traditional companies still feel games are unproductive. Employees reported spending 22 minutes playing video games during an eight-hour workday. In a 2014 study by researchers at Kansas State University in the US of 72 full-time employees from a variety of industries, those who spent one or two minutes during breaks in their day playing games such as Candy Crush on their phones reported being happier than their peers. Research suggests that these so-called micro-breaks are beneficial. “They’ve simplified the mechanics, so instead of four hours to invade France it takes 10 minutes,” he said. While games were traditionally played in longer increments on consoles or computers, new app-based games tend to provide a few minutes of fun without drawing you into an hours-long adventure like a game such as Civilization would have, said Ferguson. It helps that it’s getting easier to play in short bursts. For example, sales people might track their earned sales commissions and compete with colleagues to meet a certain sales goal through a smartphone app that mimics playing a video game. Start-ups and technology firms like Facebook and Google have long offered game consoles along with other office distractions, moves designed to motivate workers and build camaraderie.Īnd other companies are using more “gamification” in the workplace, the idea of applying game mechanics to create a fun and competitive atmosphere that motivates people to succeed at tasks, said Ferguson. Some employers are catching on to the benefits of video games and integrating them into company culture. “You are getting some of those needs met when you are conquering the world and a bunch of bad guys - that brings the energy back up,” said Ferguson. And, gaming can allow people to use skills, like leadership, which they might not get an opportunity to otherwise. Workers who are less engaged in their jobs might find video games “to be more engaging than actual work,” Ferguson said. Games can provide a social or emotional outlet to help employees cope with stressful or boring jobs, said Ferguson. Other times, the need to play a video game can be more complex. “It gives people a step back from whatever their work task may be and puts them in a different frame of mind,” said Ferguson, adding that most people don’t have trouble breaking away from gaming to return to work. Stepping away from a tricky task for a few minutes of gaming might spur a new perspective on a business problem or help to reset your mind during an especially difficult day, say experts. Gaming might also help with creative thinking and problem solving. * Password hygiene, account health, and data breach reports to keep your vault safe. * Additional two-step login options such as YubiKey, FIDO U2F, and Duo. * 1 GB encrypted storage for file attachments.
